Thank you for showing interest in OWE’s up-coming trip to Haiti! Founded in January 2019, OWE has been working closely with Damabiah Orphanage to provide them with the resources necessary to achieve sustainability and independence. During this trip, we plan to implement various systems, such as a water filtration structure, a vegetable garden, and solar paneling. Moreover, we will be conducting interviews on each child to gain additional insight into their aspirations and goals, while our team of medical professionals will be performing physical assessments and treating various illnesses.
Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere and has endured an immense amount of hardship and political corruption. Before applying to our mission trip, please know that traveling to Haiti can and will be a risk. The chairpeople of OWE work diligently to apply various measures to ensure the safety of all travelers, but of course, cannot predict any unforeseen events.
Please note, that if you are accepted into OWE’s Haiti Service Trip of 2020, a $250 deposit is required. This deposit is non-refundable but will go towards your trip’s expenses. Please also note that you are required to pay out of pocket for the trip’s costs, and depending on the flight, hotel, transportation, and food, the total expenditures may be around $1,000 per person.
